Changelings as the Dreaming know it, owe their sobriquet to the old tales of switching a mortal infant’s life with Fae baby’s,’ and there are no end to Tales of cruel, shapeshifting Fetchs, Dopplegangers, or Hedley Kows. While many times it is simply a Kelpie, Beastie, or unseelie Pooka, of any other of a dozen shapeshifting Fae many times, unawares, it’s a Brollachan.

The Brollachan’s ill-humored legends still have been cemented in the annals of Scottish Folkloric History. Brollachan are infamous for kidnapping mortals, pilfering their identity, and then inserting themselves into the mortal’s life, just to see what it is to be human.

Brollachan are also known for their cruel pranks. Even if they don’t want to take someone’s life, they will still assume their identity and act in a manner contrary to what the Mortal will do. Sometimes this is beneficial, a Greedy Millionaire will give his assets to the poverty-stricken, or a cruel woman of beauty will court one of her ugly suitors for one night. What the Brollachan truly crave, is there is destruction in their wake.
